The 20th Brimbank Writers & Readers Festival was a huge success, bringing the community together with inspiring stories, great performances, and unforgettable moments.
The Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival kicked off with a bang, drawing a packed theatre of enthusiastic Kate Ceberano fans. As always, she captivated the crowd with her charm, wit, and wisdom from her memoir Unsung, and even treated everyone to an impromptu mini concert.
Attracting over 650 attendees, the next ten days were a whirlwind of literary celebration, with rave reviews for the festival’s diverse and dynamic lineup. From food-inspired writing to navigating grief, from geek culture to spoken word, comedy to costumes – there truly was something for everyone.
We were moved to tears by Brenda Matthew’s poignant film The Last Daughter, laughed out loud with Holden Sheppard’s unforgettable stories, and embraced the rich tapestry of Cultural Diversity Week with the always-inspiring Maxine Beneba-Clarke and Alice Pung. The festival wrapped up in spectacular style, as the fabulous Mitch Tambo brought his infectious energy and popular songs to the stage, leaving everyone – young and old – enraptured.
