May and June are an important time to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the voices of LGBTIQA+ communities. It’s also an opportunity to reflect, learn, and come together in support of a more welcoming and inclusive community.
Celebrating IDAHOBIT & Pride Month
On 17 May, we recognise the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), a day that raises awareness of the discrimination many LGBTIQA+ people continue to face around the world while highlighting the importance of respect, equality, and inclusion.
Throughout June, we also celebrate Pride Month – recognising the history, achievements, and ongoing advocacy of LGBTIQA+ communities, and celebrating the diversity and visibility that help make our communities stronger.
Pride Month is both a celebration and an opportunity to learn more about LGBTIQA+ history and experiences. From early activism to modern milestones, it’s a chance to reflect on the contributions of queer communities, understand the challenges they have faced, and celebrate the ongoing work to build more inclusive communities.
