Located at Derrimut Community Centre, this free, contactless service offers Brimbank Libraries members a quick and convenient way to browse or collect reserved items during the centre’s opening hours.

How to Access the Book Locker?

The Book Locker is available to everyone in our community.

Brimbank Libraries members can browse and borrow items onsite, or reserve items online and collect from the Derrimut Book Locker.

I’m not yet a Brimbank Libraries member. How can I use the Book Locker?

Simply apply for membership using our online membership form or by scanning the QR code on the side of the Book Locker.

Once completed, you will have immediate access to the Book Locker and will be able to borrow up to five physical items.

To increase your borrowing limit to 80 items, you will need to visit one of our library branches with ID for instant verification.

    Browse our range of items online using our online catalogue

    Place a hold with your library card and select Derrimut Community Centre as your pick-up point

    Wait for your email or SMS notification to let you know that your item has arrived at the Book Locker

    Collect your items from the Book Locker during opening hours. You can return your items at the same time!

Getting here

There is a parking lot for Derrimut Community Centre, and plenty of parking spots along the street.

Bus – Bus route 400 will get you to Derrimut Community Centre. The nearest stop is on Windsor Blvd.

Train – The closest train stations are Sunshine Station (Metropolitan Line) and Deer Park Station (Regional/V Line).

Book Locker FAQs

To borrow a book, scan your physical library card, or type in your library card details on the screen at the locker.

Press ‘browse’ if you want to browse and borrow an item from the available selection.

Press ‘hold pickup’ if you want to pick up an item that you have on hold. If you see an item in the locker but it does not appear in the catalogue on the browse screen, it is because someone else has that item on hold.

Follow the prompts on screen to finalise your borrowing process.

To return a book, scan your physical library card, or type in your library card details on the screen at the locker.

Press the ‘return’ button on the screen to open the return chute door.

Insert your items in the return chute. The door will automatically close once you are done.

When you return a book, items may take a few days to come off your account as we need to take the books out of the locker and back into a library branch to check them in.

No, you will need to sign up for a Brimbank Libraries membership.

You can do this by visiting one of our library branches with your ID, or completing our online membership form for immediate access.

Yes, you can manually log in by typing your library card details on the screen.

Yes, you will be able to borrow up to five physical items.

To increase your borrowing limit to 80 items, you will need to visit one of our library branches with ID for instant verification.

A full verified library member can borrow up to 80 items. Please be mindful and only borrow what you will read as there are limited books in the locker.

No, the book locker is only available during Derrimut Community Centre’s opening hours.

Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 6:30pm

Sat – Sun: Closed

If the book you want is not available in the locker – visit our library website to reserve the title from our catalogue. You can then select to pick it up from the locker.
