Sensory Map

A sensory map visually indicates areas based on sensory experiences like noise and lighting. At St Albans Library, blue sections on the sensory map mark quieter, low-sensory areas with fewer people like the space near the front of the library where newspapers and magazines are located, as well as a section towards the back corner where people sit to study. The purple sections denote busier, high-sensory zones such as the children’s area, the computer area and the information desk. High noise periods are typically from 9:30-11:30 AM and 3:00-5:30 PM. Seating and study areas are shown in orange. For help, find a staff member with a name badge or visit the Information Desk.
